Hi there! So I just found your blog a few hours ago and I *cannot* believe that someone as amazing as you exists! This is *amazing*!
ReplyDeleteI saw the first NATM when I was quite young, so all the wonderful things about Ahk and the tablet didn't hold my interest like it does now. I also saw NATM2, but Ahk wasn't in it and it wasn't centered heavily around the tablet or the Egypt Brothers in terms of history/backstory, so it, again, didn't send me into an obsessive meltdown. But the other night my family rented SOTT, and even though I wasn't too thrilled with the movie itself, I was immediately fascinated by Ahk and the tablet and the family dynamics. The darker tone also drew me in, and I think that may be why, for the past few days, I've done nothing but think about the tablet and Ahk's family and Egypt and NATM in general.
Sorry to ramble, but as I was going through your pages I didn't see comments, and I just feel like you're awesome! It's easy to feel alone in loving a fandom when it's not super popular, but going through your blog makes me feel like others are equally enraptured by this magical tablet and all it does.
Anyway, besides praising your awesomeness, there is also something I'd like to ask you: Have you seen the original script for NATM2? Forgive me if you said that you have already, but in the original script Kahmunrah tells Larry that he murdered Akhmenrah in his sleep. He also says that he doesn't know how to read because the nannies read to him, but Akh does know how to read. In your pages you speculated that Akh was most likely killed by Kah, and that Kah couldn't read because he had others do it for him, so I just wanted to let you know that you're spot on :)
Okay, one more thing (sorry, I'm just SO excited that you exist): Does it bother you that Ahk was locked in his sarcophagus for so long? It didn't occur to me until I saw SOTT, but Ahk and his family were buried with the tablet...for over 3,000 years. So, he and his parents woke up every night in their tomb for 3,000 years, yes? I just feel like there's a lot of interesting, dark fanfiction/general musing fodder there. What do you think?
Hi Lizabeth, thank you so much for this amazingly informative and entertaining blog- they ought to credit you if they ever do a NATM4!
ReplyDeleteI never even heard of the story until coming across NATM2 on tv in 2012ish, but the concept is one of my favourite series premises EVER( my favourite is Primeval, a all-rounder tv show about time travel in the modern everyday and past/present/future people and creatures that I coincidentally first came across during the Eygptian-themed episode...).
With any luck they will continue the story one day (as long as they A.don't do a weak recast of characters like Nicky, i'd rather have new ones to explore and B.maybe have a couple of entertaining female characters? My favourites are Larry, Jedediah and Octavius, the brothers Egypt and Kah's 'generals' Napoleon/Al Capone/Ivan...all guys, where's the variety?)!
The doll series Monster High had the Egyptian siblings Cleo and Nefera plus a couple of vampires and the Scottish Loch Ness Monster, were you ever interested in those?
Anyway, thanks again and hope you're having a great 2018!
