Night #55 - Ancient History and Archaeology

This will probably be the last cluster of AU ideas which may or may not be related to each other and are mostly provided to serve as muses, as there are only so many categories of Alternate Universe fanfiction.

You could delve even farther into the ancient past, particularly in the exploration of the tablet's history and the history of the Brothers Egypt (One of my favorites in this category is Big Brothers are Jerks). Again, OCs are okay, because you need to come up with parents and other such figures to surround the Brothers Egypt. After all, they didn't grow up in a vaccuum. Or, if you're into the more modern angle, you have the option of exploring the expedition which dug up Ahkmenrah and his tablet. Here, especially, you have the questions of whether the archaeologists knew abuot the tablet or not and whether anything else at Cambridge's Egyptology Department came to life. With the distant past, you have the choice of either the tablet's history independent of the Brothers Egypt or the exploration of the evolution of the dynamic between the Brothers themselves: did Kahmunrah always hate his brother, or were they once extremely close.

So to recap, you've got the alternate ending, especially where the bad guys win, since that's the most obvious way to change the ending; the prequel, the midquel, the continuation which will become AU as future installments are released; and explorations of the distant and semi-distant past. There is another AU, the crossover, but that will be explored in the upcoming (pre-production) National Treasure movie night.

Next on "For the Love of Night at the Museum": Brunden (the phonetic spelling). That is all.

Countdown: 316 Days to Natm 3

  1. This post read like a checklist - as it's almost point for point what I covered in the fic I plugged a couple posts back! I love coming across a like-minded fan who thinks about the same stuff I do in regards to our fandom. Ahkmenrah always struck me as a character who had enough interesting backstory to star in his own series of movies, and his teeny-tiny appearances in canon really underused his potential (as well as Rami Malek's potential).

    1. Thank you, that's so nice to hear!

And as far as Ahkmenrah is concerned: All the movies! His own spin-off series, plus a historical drama centering around his family and ancient Egyptian politics at the time (which has the added benefit of seeing more Kahmunrah, and how they were as kids--were they close, or always at odds?).
