(Taken on someone's camera phone)
This movie spends three minutes (it would've been five, if the deleted scene's commentary is anything to go by) letting Brunden (Jonah Hill, uncredited) and Larry (Ben Stiller) move from arguing about touching the exhibits to arguing about the proper pronunciation of Brunden's name. NOTE: I spell it Brunden to make it easier on myself to remember how to pronounce it. The scene culminates in Larry showing off all his awesome Jedi Night Guard moves with the flashlight and slipping his ID badge out of its place on his belt, just as Dexter would've done with his keys. But Brunden doesn't come back. We spend three to five minutes indulging in the introduction (and proper pronunciation thereof) of a character who never makes a second appearance. Ever.
Piggybacking off my AU series, something you (if you happen to be an aspiring fic writer) could do is explore what would happen if Brunden happened to, say, realize that he left his key card behind and come back for it, resulting in his showing up after hours and learning the secret, and probably asking for leave to have a mental evaluation done. He does, after all, come from "normal society", as opposed to Larry's world where magic is a nightly occurrence. Or maybe he got kidnapped and tied up by Kahmunrah's elite bodyguard or his newly-recruited henchmen and kept as a hostage, to ultimately be released the next morning before sunrise, freaking out most likely. Again, mental evaluation request.
To me it would have made more sense if they had Brunden make a brief reappearance, even in the background of some shot with the exhibits alive and about their business all around him and him freaking out and possibly passing out. After all, they paid way too much attention to him to have him come back. He should've made a second appearance.
